Couture knickers? You'd better believe it

We know it's been hot lately, but is that any reason to start parading the streets of Paris in your undies? John Galliano certainly seems to thinks so. At his glorious Christian Dior couture show yesterday, the fashion master had his models walk the catwalk in various stages of undress, matching their jackets with knickers - albeit it high-end, expensive ones - and their skirts with impeccably designed bra tops.
Turns out the new look wasn't so much to do with the heat as a photo Galliano had plucked from the Dior archives, which showed Mr Dior himself behind the scenes at a Fifties couture show surrounded by models in various states of undress.
Called 'Fever in the Cabine', Galliano's collection sought to translate that colourful backstage chaos onto the runway (and into the world's richest women's wardrobes).
For the more modest couture customers, all the pieces will be available to order as complete sets or, in the case of some of the more risqué, sheer numbers, fully lined, although we reckon there's more than one Hollywood starlet out there who could be persuaded to waltz the red carpet in Dior panties.
