Christian Dior unveils a new collection of couture trainers
Ever pushing the established art of couture in exciting new directions, the clever creatives at Christian Dior HQ have unveiled their luxe new trainer collection… in GIFs.
After showing exciting trainer-heel-hybrids on the catwalk back in February, we had a feeling that the brand may be up to something bigger and slightly more practical. But really only slightly.
The futuristic styles in their ‘Fusion’ range sort of look ready to run in, but you might decide to save them for best when you hear that each pair is handcrafted in their Parisian embroidery atelier, and cost in excess of £2,000…
A video released by the fashion house showcases the meticulous manufacturing processes behind the couture kicks - from original design sketches, to delicate sole moulding, to stunning hand embellishment techniques. (Click through the gallery above for more of the gorgeous images.)
The news comes in the same week as Net-A-Porter announced details of their athletic new off-spring, Net-A-Sporter (see what they did there?). So should we expecting to start seeing couture sportswear on, say, the courts at Wimbledon, or at the women’s Rugby World Cup next week?
