Christmas is fast upon us and if you’re anything like us, you’re still none the wiser on what you’re going to wear on the day.
With a whole host of confusing dress codes (can someone please explain what smart casual means!) and the minefield of trying to dress appropriately when it’s bloody cold outside, we’ve consulted queen of the faux fur, Charlotte Simone about her festive style tips.
What is a fail safe festive styling staple that will work year on year?
A corny Christmas jumper is always a sure thing. Mine’s a festive red knit with a Christmas pudding on the front, I love styling it with comfortable denim and my Stan Smith trainers. My sausage dog, Harold also has a Santa suit.
Wearing tinsel and Christmas themed earrings – good or bad idea?
More is more in my mind. Harold would be wearing Christmas themed earrings if I could find a suitable dog pair! I think tinsel is better suited for the tree but I love seeing people having fun with their outfits on Christmas day.

What’s the best festive hairstyle?
French braids! You need to get your hair off your face so you can concentrate on all that good food…if you want something a bit dressier; I think big bouncy curls are always lovely and festive.
If you’re having a Christmas party should you enforce a dress code?
It totally depends on your venue! This year I am taking the girls to ROKA for lunch for ours, so I’m not making them dress up. If it’s a family occasion, I think casual is ideal. Take a Charlotte Simone with you if you need to dress your look up for after! To be honest, I usually ignore all suggestions of dress codes and just have two key looks. If it’s casual, I’m in jeans and a shirt and if the dress code is a bit smarter, I’ll wear a trouser suit or a tuxedo dress. I wore an amazing Ralph Lauren suit to the BFA’s this year, all velvet and sexy!
How do you incorporate faux fur into your festive styling wardrobe?
Fluff for any occasion I say! It adds to any outfit. My dip dye pink Shaggy is ideal for Christmas day – it’s got just enough of a festive feel without being too much. That said, I do also wear the Big Daddy a lot on icier days.
What is your ultimate festive styling faux pas?
A sexy Santa outfit…
What’s on your Christmas wishlist to Saint Nick?
This year I’ve asked for a Bella Freud Jumper, a Delfina pinky ring and a pair of Diane Kordas earrings. And finally, how many mince pies is too many mince pies? 45…I mean, is there such a thing as too many mince pies?!
