Spring totally sprung at Chanel this morning, as Karl Lagerfeld took on Gardeners’ World in his latest couture extravaganza.
A sugary paper greenhouse set formed the centrepiece at the Grand Palais, and two gardeners (armed with empty watering cans) tended to the faux foliage before the show began.
Karl’s collection was all about the fleurs, as chiffon rosettes bloomed from full skirts, covered ruffs on dresses and sprouted from beanies – surely an ode to the notably absent Cara Delevingne?
The house’s classic boucle suits came in light new rainbow weaves, but it was the modern fabric mixes styled into individual looks that felt the most fresh. Candyfloss organza layered over a waffle knit crop top – does it get any sweeter than this? See every single image in the gallery above.
A veiled Kendall Jenner kicked off her 2015 catwalk crusade by walking for the Parisian mega-house, as momager Kris Jenner cheered on from the sidelines. Girls of the moment Sam Rollinson and Lindsey Wixson also made their 2015 debuts as Kristen Stewart watched on from the front row.
As is tradition, the show ended with the presentation of a Chanel bride. This time, she wasn’t pregnant, but was working a chic two-piece a little like Poppy Delevingne’s custom Chanel wedding dress for her wedding to James Cook last summer. We’re not surprised if Karl’s seeing high demand for that clever confection. Whip off the full n’ frothy skirt to reveal a party-ready mini underneath. Genius.
