And the award for starriest front row of the season so far goes to… Burberry Prorsum pulled out all the stops for their London Fashion Week show this afternoon - here’s everything you need to know:
Dozens Of Front Row Megastars Cara Delevingne (with girlfriend St Vincent), Kate Moss, Sienna Miller… Burberry pulled out all the big names on the penultimate day of LFW, giving us the starriest front row of the season so far. From Suki Waterhouse to Paloma Faith, to Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter, every A-lister was also clad in the new collection before it even hit the catwalk.
A 32-Piece Orchestra Accompanying the voice, Alison Moyet, who sang all of her hits live for the audience – yes, All Cried Out! Yes Only You! This was exactly the kind of pomp and theatrics that LFW needed on a drizzly Monday, and was a perfect way to announce Burberry’s position as a curator on Apple Music acknowledging their regular collaborations and commitment to working with British artists.
49 English Lace Looks The pretty summer day dress is your new hero piece, says designer Christopher Bailey, who patchworked layers of lace fabrics, macramé and mesh grids together on his artisanal slim fit frocks. For evening, he added silvery bias cut silk panels into the mix and, of course, the house’s signature trench coat now comes covered in latticework too.
11 Totally Practical Rucksacks The IT bag of the season ahead? It’s all about the gap year backpack, luxed up with gold chains and embroidery details. Every model had a personalised one, making this the house’s monogram item of the season, available straight off the runway and up to October 5th.
7pm – The Time To Snap Chat Yes, on Sunday night, before the editors and buyers had even returned home from another day of LFW action, Burberry’s Snap Chat followers got a first look at the entire collection. In a world first, the house revealed every single look before the show had even begun, meaning that no one really even needed their dainty doily invitation. That's the beauty of digital, democratic fashion though, right?
