The one you lusted over as a teenager

If anyone is going to bring back a bag that has slightly gone out of fashion, it’ll bloody well be Beyonce - she of the viral Instagram pregnancy picture and the gold Grammys dress with a hidden detail.

The singer posted a montage of her latest outfit on Instagram, and her accessory of choice was the humble Louis Vuitton monogram bag.

Now if you were a teenager in the early 2000s, you’ll know anyone who was anyone was wearing the LV bag. Obviously, Paris Hilton was THE champion of the multi-coloured Takashi Murakami Vuitton (since discontinued, RIP), toting it on the red carpet, generally accompanied by BFF-of-the-time Nicole Richie.

Lindsay Lohan loved hers so much she wore it on the red carpet while texting on her bejewelled Blackberry, as well as on screen in Mean Girls. We’re not old, you’re old.

As for the more classic version, the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Angelina Jolie were all fans.

Like any coveted designer item, it naturally spawned hundreds of fake copies (hello Louis Vutton and monogram clashes), which made it much less covetable and might have explained why it fell out of fashion a little. After all, why spend all that money if people assume yours is a fake.

But thanks to Beyonce, and no doubt the genius that is Nicolas Ghesquiere, they’re becoming the new new It bag. And if you’re wondering how to wear it this time around, take heed from Beyonce, Kendall Jenner and Rihanna.

It’s all about dressing it down as part of your off-duty wardrobe, so pair it with a sweatshirt, ripped jeans and trainers.

The bags are currently stocked at Browns Boutique, 23-27 South Molton Street, London W1K 5RD
