The high street store has teamed up with the hit TV show to create a Mad Men-inspired collection
It’s the TV series that had everyone oohing and aahing over its slick ‘60s-inspired fashion, and now Mad Men has its very own clothing collection thanks to Banana Republic.
The American high street giant has teamed up with the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant, to create a limited edition range of womenswear inspired by the signature look of the programme’s lead characters, Betty Francis and Joan Holloway, played by January Jones and Christina Hendricks respectively.
If, like us, you tune into the award-winning show as much for the classic early 1960s American fashion as the plotlines, you’ll be pleased to know that the capsule collection, which is due to hit stores later this month, is jam-packed with retro goodies – think lace shift tops, tailored trousers, leopard print trench coats, wool pencil skirt suits, ladylike cardigans, cocktail dresses and pussy bow blouses – in a palette of midnight blue, purple, red, black and grey.
The accessories in the one-off line are all top-notch too, with silk scarves, black leather gloves, ladylike handbags and patterned pump heels all featuring heavily.
The Banana Republic Mad Men collection launches on Thursday 25th August. But will you be a Betty or a Joan?
