Balmain Army, get ready. The collaboration we’ve all been waiting for, Balmain x H&M, is launching on 5th November 2015. Here’s everything we know so far…
The campaign video just dropped
Olivier Rousteing and Kendall Jenner announced the project on the red carpet
The Balmain designer broke the most exciting fashion news story of the year as only he would. He roped in BFFs Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn, and took to the Billboard Awards red carpet in front of a global audience. Having kept the collaboration a secret for months, Olivier had even whipped up two preview looks from the collection for the girls to wear, causing a social media meltdown, of course. Now that’s how you do it.
The collection is haute for the high street
Being a storied Parisian couture house, Balmain is famous for its super-womanly silhouettes and lashings of rich embellishments, with a fierce twist added by Olivier for the Insta-generation. ‘All the elements that make up the powerful Balmain silhouette are in this collection,’ Olivier tells us exclusively. ‘I looked at everything I’ve achieved since becoming creative director. The intricacy of the embellishment, the strong-shouldered tailoring… finish your look with the high-waisted belt, and you’re totally Balmain.’
Olivier Rousteing is the most popular man in fashion
Olivier counts Kim Kardashian and Rihanna among his BFFs-turned-clients meaning you can guarantee you’ll spot stars everywhere wearing the pieces. The self-proclaimed king of the fish face selfie will, naturally, pose up a storm with his supermodel friends at the launch party, flooding Instagram with the fabulousness of the #BalmainArmy.
The official campaign pictures are hot to trot
Go on, take a guess who stars in the adverts? Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and, of course, Kendall Jenner look powerful stood alongside two Olivier look-alike models (above). From the graphic backdrop to the all supermodel cast, the images are unmistakably Balmain.
The history of H&M collaborators is oh so impressive
Karl Lagerfeld, Isabel Marant, Lanvin, Versace, Alexander Wang and even more huge designer names have brought their haute to the high street in recent years, producing sell-out ranges that get fashion fans queuing round the blocks on launch day.
When the collection sells out, olivier wants you to tag #HMBalmaination
‘When it all sells out, I’ll celebrate with a selfie, of course!’ Olivier exclusively tells us. ‘I want everyone to take pictures in the queue, outside the store, in the changing room and at the till, to show me how they’re wearing the pieces in their own way.’
