We just can't imagine Fashion Week without street style, selfies and Instagram commentaries. Just what did we do before smartphones? Well, fashion is about to change for the tech-obsessed among us thanks to a new gadget from Sony. Say goodbye to the clutch bag-iPhone-glass-of-bubbles backstage juggle. Sony's Cyber-shot has just changed everything.
Our team was lucky enough to try out the Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 during London Fashion Week and it'll be joining our beauty products and smart flats in Paris this week on our list of ultimate essentials.
Basically, the neat little lens works like a normal camera, but connected to your smartphone. Hello, amazing new gadget. It means you take take truly impressive photos in high resolution with an optical zoom. What's more, you can shoot it from any angle (perfect for the catwalks or huge group selfies) and then adjust the settings from your phone's touchscreen.
We used the DSC-QX10 at Marie Claire's 25th birthday party this week and our Digital/Online Editor Kate Stephens was able to take a huge selfie of her entire (dreamy, Valentino RED, *swoon*) dress by placing the lens on a table, and activating the camera from her phone a few steps away. GENIUS.
All you have to do is link the camera software to your phone via wi-fi. The lens can then be detached and used independently, hence changing the way we'll all take selfies… forever. Thank you, Sony.
The lens is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones. The DSC-QX10 retails at £179 and the DSC-QX100 retails at £399. For more, visit www.sony.co.uk. Go and try it out for yourself before the bloggers beat you to it.
