Barbie met Blade Runner at Ashley Williams' AW15 show this morning, sponsored by NEWGEN (a scheme that supports rising talent in the fashion industry).
The young Brit designer sent UK It-models Georgia May Jagger and Alice Dellal down the runway to late-Eighties indie-pop tracks, in a mesh of black PVC and fuzzy pink creations. Fashion week newcomer Immy Waterhouse made her glorious LFW debut. And we spotted cool girl gang Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung and Scout Willis hanging out on the FROW at Ashley’s show – one that is fast becoming one of London Fashion Week's hottest tickets.
These are the standout moments we spotted at the show today… The Glam-Goth Makeover Jeremy Scott may have missed a trick last season… he forgot galactic-goth Barbie! Ashley Williams' AW15 collection has definitely filled the gap – think Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice meets Paris Hilton. Williams opted for a tougher, darker collection than she’s done in previous seasons – pink glitter on the eyes, black lipstick and a whole lotta PVC. Her trademark kitschy prints and bold slogans weren’t in short supply, though, with the words ‘Plastic Surgery’ slashed across black leather bags and pin-up girls embossed on to dresses.
(Little) Sister Act It seemed fitting for the brightest young thing in fashion right now to call in a gaggle of young Brit models-of-the moment to showcase her collection, from Georgia May Jagger, who opened the show, to DJ/model Alice Dellal. They were also joined by Immy Waterhouse (yes, Suki’s lil sis), who made her LFW debut. Watch this space.
Fuzzy Knits The pink trend reigns supreme in the form of shearling coats – or ‘chubbies’ as the fash-pack call them (basically, a big furry coat) – and fluffy hats at Ashley Williams. Gone are the pastel pinks of last season, in favour of punchy bubblegum tones, broken up with black shearling, zips, black buttons, and the fabric of the collection, PVC, to create an edgier look.
The It-Crowd Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof rocked up to support their designer BFF today. We also spotted Geldof catching up with LA-based feminist artist and fashionista Scout Willis – Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s 23-year old daughter. Williams definitely wins in the my-girl-gang-is-cooler-than-yours stakes.

The Statement Shoes Ashley Williams' girl this season is described as: 'the intergalactic girl to beam you up and escape planet earth with. The high-heeled X-terminator'. So it seemed fitting that she would send her models down the runway in a fierce collection of star-studded patent stilettos, created for the second season in a row with Red or Dead. And they’ll be available to buy at Schuh this autumn. Dream.
