An explosion has taken place at Parsons Green train station in London this morning.
Emergency services were called at 8.20am following reports of an explosion on a commuter train following a blast. The incident occurred on the district line train in South West London, and photographs shared on social media appear to suggest that the explosion came from a white bucket container which was concealed in a Lidl shopping bag.
A bomb squad, armed police and a hazardous response team is currently on the scene. The Met Police have now confirmed that it was a terror-related incident.
Eyewitnesses have described what happened, saying it was like a 'fireball' travelling through the carriage, and that the rear of the train filled with smoke.
A metro.co.uk reporter who was on the train at the time, reports that some passengers were 'really badly burned' and 'their hair was coming off.'
One witness told the BBC that there were people leaving the station 'covered in blood', and another BBC reporter says she saw a woman on a stretcher with burns to her face and legs.
