PARALYMPICS: TEAM GB'S ONES TO WATCH
Her victorious win comes just two days after Simmonds, 17, set a new world record to defend her S6 400m Paralympic freestyle swim title.
'It's amazing in front of this home crowd,' Simmonds told BBC Sport after yesterday's swim, 'I'm so pleased and I don't know what my coach has done to get me in this shape.'
Simmonds, who was born with achondroplasia, a form of short-limbed dwarfism, became a star after she took home two gold medals at the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008 at the age of thirteen.
One of the darlings of the London 2012 Paralympics, who was chosen to model Stella McCartney's Team GB kit, Ellie will be competing again in the 50m freestyle this evening and 100m freestyle on Saturday.
