Jessica Chastain is apparently in talks to play Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming movie biopic.
If the rumours are true, the actress would replace Naomi Watts in the iconic role of Marilyn Monroe in a new adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 fake memoir, Blonde.
We've been chatting in the Marie Claire office and have the following thoughts on the matter:
1. Jessica Chastain has a beautiful face and delicate, soft features, so we could totally see her transform into the blonde bombshell given the right colourist.
2. She is a fantastic actress (we mean, she's already been Oscar-nominated for her work in The Help and Zero Dark Thirty) so, if she gets this right, could be on track for some serious award nods when the time comes (if Idris Elba can do it...).
3. It will be a tricky role. There ain't no denying it. It's easy for actresses, when playing Marilyn, to become a caricature, almost cartoon-like, version of the icon. This might not be the case for Chastain, given that the novel, on which the film will be based, according to The Wrap
