Victoria Secret’s model Erin Heatherton defends airbrushing

The stunning model has dubbed Photoshop an 'essential part' of her job

Victoria Secret’s models own some of the most flawless faces, and figures, in the world but even they aren’t exempt from the powers of Photoshop. And model Erin Heatherton believes it’s an 'essential part' of the fashion process.

Erin, who models for the lingerie brand, told Fashionista: ‘We're not selling reality, we're selling a story. It's all about creating this fantasy.

‘I don't think people should confuse fantasy and reality because no one is perfect - we all know that.’

She continued: ‘This is what happens when you do a photo shoot; retouching is an essential part of our job.’

Instead of deflecting responsibility onto the brands, Erin stresses it’s down to the individual to differentiate between what’s real and what’s been airbrushed. She added: ‘It's people's own prerogative to be able to look at something and know the difference between “this is what someone looks like with make-up on” and “this is what they look like in real life.”’

To emphasize her point further, Erin finished by saying: ‘Photoshop makes things look beautiful just as you have special effects in movies. It's just a part of life.’

In other Victoria’s Secret news, Alessandra Ambrosio has been awarded the accolade of wearing the brand’s latest, Floral Fantasy bra valued at a staggering $2.5 million (£1.5 million).

Alessandra will appear on the catwalk next month dripping in jewels including sapphires, rubies and diamonds set in 18 carat rose and yellow gold.

To match the bra, the brand are also unveiling a new scent, their Bombshell Fantasy Fragrance. It's heralded as a ‘blinged out’ eau de parfum and comes complete with a $500,000 (£310,000) bottle featuring more precious stones.
