Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell comment on Cheryl Cole split with messages of sympathy
Across the pond at Elton John's Oscar bash on Sunday night, both Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell took the opportunity to send messages of sympathy to Cheryl Cole, following her split from husband Ashley.
Posh, who befriended the Girls Aloud when they both attended the 2006 World Cup, told the Daily Mail at the soiree: 'I support Cheryl 100 per cent. I have not spoken to her, but I'm always there for her. I'm behind her - I feel for anyone going through a tough time.'
And she wasn't the only one thinking of Cheryl. Simon Cowell also spoke on the matter, telling the paper: 'She's a friend and you're always going to be there for friends. She's going through a hard time, but you know, she's a strong girl. I've been in touch and I'm there for her.'
Meanwhile Ashley will finally return to England today following a stint in a French rehabilitation centre, where he was receiving treatment for a broken ankle. It is rumoured that he will see his estranged wife for the first time since their split was announced, for talks at their Surrey mansion.
But speaking to the press, Cheryl's brother Andrew insisted there was no chance of a reconciliation: 'They are going to divorce and there is no two ways about it. I believe the house is going up for sale and she is going to get it sold as soon as possible and move on with her life.'
