It’s widely believed that it’s not just her natural eye for a strong silhouette that’s behind things and that the mother-of-four has, in the past, taken classes in the Alexander Technique. Marie Claire spoke with Susanna Scouller who teaches the technique at the Pimlico Centre who revealed: ‘Has Victoria Beckham had Alexander Technique training? I would say yes, I think she looks a little more poised and relaxed. Maybe even more confident.’
With paparazzi constantly chasing Victoria Beckham it seems like a logical step to have some training in how to appear in control with every camera click. ‘A celebrity might be photographed by the paparazzi at any time,’ says Susanna. ‘And the way a star looks can say something negative about them at that moment. The Alexander Technique helps with being aware of your body language all the time – something that ensures celebrities such as Victoria won’t be caught out.’

Susanna explains: ‘Carrying a heavy bag on the shoulder can cause you to compensate by tightening or hunching that shoulder, so carrying it under the arm or in your hand is often A bit like high heels, it takes skill to be able to cope with the change in balance that a bag can cause.’
And we all know Victoria has the skills to cope in heels!
The Alexander Technique isn’t all about posture though, as Susanna adds, ‘The technique is often known for its ability to improve its pupils’ posture, which in turn promotes self worth and confidence. So I’m not surprised Victoria Beckham caught the bug while she was in LA. Good for her!’
