Even Victoria Beckham couldn't break this royal wedding fashion rule

Victoria Beckham may be off pushing the style boundaries with her chic fashion brand, however even she couldn’t get away with breaking the royal wedding dress code. In a recent interview, she explained that that there was one fashion accessory the royals had specified women had to wear and it threw her whole outfit for a loop.
She said in a Vogue Paris video, ‘Deciding what to wear for the royal wedding was quite tricky because on the invitation, it said that you had to wear a hat.’
The fashion accessory isn’t uncommon for royal occasions, as all those enviable Kate Middleton hats can well attest. However, not everybody has a wedding-appropriate hat or fascinator knocking about in the back of their closet and Victoria used her keen eye to solve her wedding guest dress woes.
‘I wanted to look chic and so I decided to go with navy and then I’ll throw it off with a bright red shoe which makes it less obvious, a little more surprising,’ she said.
She also admitted that she had only planned what she was going to wear just days before the wedding, which has our anxiety kicking into overdrive even though the event already happened. She ended up wearing a gorgeous navy number from her own line and she walked viewers through her outfit.
‘I knew I wanted something appropriate, something that was feminine, something that I felt comfortable in but I also wanted it to have a bit of edge,’ she explained, ‘So I designed this dress that has this really beautiful D-ring neck detail, because I love the toughness. It’s very slimming, that is always key. A nice slash down the front to get some skin out makes it feel feminine and makes it feel quite sexy but still appropriate.’

She and her hubby David Beckham were easily one of the best dressed couples at the occasion and while the pair came dressed to slay, they didn’t actually coordinate their royal wedding outfits.
She said, ‘No I didn’t coordinate with [David Beckham], I mean David has got a great sense of style. He looks good in anything. I mean that man can put anything on and look fantastic, but I knew he’d be in grey tones and black tones because I knew what he had to wear.’
She also added, ‘It’s impossible to make him look bad, right?’
Truer words have never been spoken.
