Lady Gaga has been unveiled as the brand new face of Italian fashion brand Versace
Versace has named Lady Gaga as the official face of its SS14 campaign.
After weeks of speculation that the eccentric US singer might be joining forces with the luxury Italian fashion brand, the label finally unveiled its brand new celebrity muse on Twitter over the weekend.
'#Versace proudly confirms @LadyGaga as the face of SS14 campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott #VersaceLovesGaga', Versace posted.
Versace then shared the first campaign image of the Applause singer in her new role, in which Gaga bears a striking resemblance to close friend and Vice President of the brand, Donatella Versace.
Donning a slinky, figure-hugging lilac wrap dress with knotted bandage detailing and a ruched finish, Gaga is seen reclining on a grey sofa as her long blonde rapunzel hair drapes elegantly across her body.
Completing her high-fashion femme fatal look with a huge purple statement rock, a selection of stacked silver rings, barely there eye-male up and pale peach lips, Gaga looks like a true mermaid goddess. Love.
The Grammy award-winner also took to Twitter to reveal her excitement at her new job, posting: 'I'm so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign! What do you wanna wear this Spring? #Donatella #famiglia.'
It's not hard to see how Gaga landed the prestigious high-fashion role - the ARTPOP artist has been a close friend of the label's 58-year-old designer for years.
'I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign,' Donatella told the Independent before her recent fashion show.
'I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.'
Gaga even paid homage to her BFF on a subtly-titled song from her new ARTPOP album, entitled 'Donatella'.
'She's so rich, and so blonde... she's so fab, it's beyond', the lyrics read.
Following the announcement, Lady Gaga rocked up to the American Music Awards over the weekend wearing the striking Versace gown from the campaign shot itself - only this time with the addition of a fairy-tale white horse, which the outlandish star rode into the ceremony on.
