And today a spokesman has confirmed the exchange definitely took place.
'They never at any point had a physical sexual relationship,' an official said.
This will come as a big blow to new mum Tess, who gave birth to the couple's second daughter Amber last May.
‘Vern loves me, he loves our family. One would hope that's what's important,' she said in a recent interview.
‘I trust him - I have to, because what's the alternative? You've got to believe in the bloke your with, right?'
And insiders suggest Tess will be furious on hearing the latest news.
'She's just had a second child with him so this is the last thing she'll want to hear,' said one source.
‘He feels pretty stupid about sending them to her now and is obviously worried what Tess is going to say.'
