Ulrika Jonsson set to replace Fiona Phillips on the GMTV sofa?
Ulrika Jonsson could be set to make a dramatic small-screen comeback – and replace Fiona Phillips as the new presenter on GMTV.
According to the Mirror, it is Ulrika, and not other possible Kate Garraway, who will become the new queen of the sofa when Fiona leaves.
Insiders at the station say that the show wants to use Fiona's departure as an opportunity for a fresh new look. One source said: 'Fiona's departure is a blow, but this gives us a chance to give the whole show a spring clean. Ulrika is perfect - beautiful and intelligent, with an ability to laugh at herself.'
Ulrika joined TV-am as a secretary in 1989, but was soon promoted to role of weather girl on the show on account of her pretty blonde looks.
The 41-year-old mum-of-four later went on to present Gladiators, and was a regular on the Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer show Shooting Stars.
The source added: 'Ulrika is an experienced presenter, and we are now in serious discussions.'

If, for some reason, the partnership doesn't go ahead, GMTV bosses may decide to go for a younger presenter, with Myleene Klass, Jenni Falconer, and Holly Willoughby being touted.
