Turns out Katy Perry had a lovely experience at the 2009 BRIT Awards. Erm...

Katy Perry, we feel you

We may be on the final stretch of Awards Month, with the Oscars just days away it, but right now, it’s all about the best of British music at the much-hyped Brit Awards 2017.

It’s an award ceremony known for it’s bad behaviour, on-stage stunts and off-camera antics, but for Katy Perry, it sounds like her first Brits experience was a little bit different. As in, sickening.

Literally.

Katy, who is a special guest at tonight’s awards, didn’t have the best time at the Brits in 2009. Speaking on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 Breakfast Show, the singer explained what went on...

‘The first time I went to the Brits I had a flu of maybe 102, and I was so sick and I walked the carpet and they were like “You can’t go home” as they knew I was gonna win,’ she said.

‘And I was like, “Why am I here, I’m literally dying.”’

Thankfully, Natalia Imbruglia was here to help (seriously).

‘I went to the girls’ bathroom and went under a credenza and Natalie Imbruglia pulled up the curtain and was like, “Are you alright babe?"

‘I was shivering with cold sweats and was like, “I’m supposed to be here at the Brits, I think I’m getting an award.”

‘I had to stay and get the award and I just went straight to bed. It was tragic, it was my only connection with the Brits.’

Whilst we can’t think of anything worse than having to be in a room with hundreds of A-listers, whilst being watched on TV by hundreds of thousands, we really can’t get over the fact that Natalia Imbruglia called Katy Perry babe.
