As Tom Cruise was spotted out and about in London, a nervous looking Suri Cruise began her first day at school across the pond in New York.

Wearing a bright pink bow in her hair, the six-year-old was papped biting her nails as she arrived at the private Avenues school in New York's Chelsea, with mum Katie looking equally as anxious.

Aimed at the jetsetting elite, the brand new $39,750-per-year Avenues school, which is based just blocks away from Holmes' abode, markets itself as a 'World School' which enables pupils to follow their parents around the globe without interfering with the school term times.
