According to E! News, Cruise is currently in England filming his latest thriller, All You Need Is Kill, which explains the reason the mega-star hasn't been spotted with his six-year-old daughter in well over a month (since the twosome went to Disney World together in July).

Cruise may be hard at work in another country, but he hasn't been neglecting his parental duties, his attorney insists.

'He calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day,' Cruise's lawyer, Bert Fields, told E! News.

'He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life. As in the past, when he's shooting in a foreign country, he has to rely on daily phone calls.'

Six-year-old Suri has been busy with her own workload, having started first grade at the posh Avenues School in Manhattan just last week.

Meanwhile, mum Katie Holmes has also been juggling many balls; just last week, she showed her first Holmes & Yang presentation at New York Fashion Week, was named the celebrity face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and announced that she is returning to Broadway in a new comedy this autumn.
