Thierry Henry set to lose up to £12 million in divorce settlement
Thiery Henry could lose half his £25 million fortune after his wife was granted a quick divorce yesterday.
Model Claire Merry's application for a decree nisi (a ruling by the court giving anyone 6 weeks and 1 day to tell the court if they object to the divorce) owing to Henry's 'unreasonable behaviour'.
She can now expect to receive up to £12 million from Henry's £25 million wealth after telling the High Court she gave up a modelling career to look after their daughter Tea, now two years old.
The couple split up after Merry discovered text messages to another woman on Henry's mobile phone.
The 30-year-old footballer met Merry on the set of the Renault Clio Va Va Voom advert and married in July 2003 in a £40,000 wedding.
The final settlement which comes into force when a decree absolute is granted may be delayed if the couple fail to reach an agreement over custody and visitation rights of their daughter. Henry is said to be unhappy with the current arrangements and is planning legal action.
