Fashion highs and lows at The Women NYC premiere

Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes and their co-stars jetted in to New York last night for the premiere of the highly-anticipated The Women premiere.

The all-female cast, including screen legend Annette Bening, Debra Messing and Jada Pinkett Smith, star together in the smart comedy about a woman's battle against her hubby's mistress.

Meg Ryan takes centre stage and has her feathers ruffled by mistress Eva Mendes, looking hotter than ever on the big screen.

While Mendes sexes it up on-screen, her appearance on the red carpet last night was quite the opposite as she channelled a grannie-style shapeless gold-sequinned dress that stopped mid-calf – the least flattering length of all.

And it wasn't just the Calvin Klein model who missed out in the style stakes. Her co-star Meg Ryan played it safe in what can only be described as a nod to the nuns. She dressed head-to-toe in a black, long-sleeved dressed, buttoned up to the neck with not an ounce of flesh on display.

Meanwhile Matrix actress Jada Pinkett Smith opted for an oversized asymmetric ruffle top and black pencil skirt. We're all for the ruffles this season, but downsizing is best.

Perhaps it was a case of sisters sticking together and not wishing to outdo one another, but we can't help thinking the girls turn out at the LA premiere was altogether more fashion forward…
