The music moguls celebrity record will be a cover of REM's Everybody Hurts
Music mogul Simon Cowell is set to approach his glittering celeb friends to record a charity single for Haiti earthquake victims .
The X Factor judge made the announcement at the National Television Awards yesterday.
‘We had a request from the Prime Minister and The Sun newspaper, 'Would we put a record together?', so we haven't got a lot of time but we are going to do something, and attempt to raise as much money as possible,' he said speaking at the show's press conference.
But the hastily planned single - a cover of REM's Everybody Hurts - will certainly involve some big names.
Leona Lewis has already pledged her involvement, telling reporters, 'you can definitely count me in. What's happened is absolutely heartbreaking and I really hope everyone pulls together to help.'
Lovely Leona's fellow X Factor winner Joe McElderry will also be heard on the single.

And Take That, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle and Simon's fellow X Factor judge Cheryl Cole have all been confirmed.
Mr Cowell has wasted no time, and is in talks with other big names including Paul McCartney and Elton John.
He is also said to be approaching artists who've appeared on the X Factor in the past, which could include Robbie Williams, Michael Buble and Rihanna.
All funds raised from the single will be split between the Disasters Emergency Committee and Helping Haiti/ Medicins Sans Frontiers.
There is even talk of a VAT break on all sales of the track to maximize the amount of money raised.
Meanwhile a whole host of other A-list names have been getting involved in the relief campaign.
Hollywood heavyweights Brad and Angelina, Leonardo Di Caprio and George Clooney have all donated a whopping $1 million to the cause.
