Fear not, Sherlock fans! Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, co-creators of the show, have confirmed that there will definitely be a third series of Sherlock hitting our screens later this year.
After 7.9 million viewers tuned in to watch the dramatic final episode of the second series last night, Twitter was awash with news that a third series has been filmed and will hit our screens later this year, after Moffat wrote: 'Of course there's going to be a third series - it was commissioned at the same time as the second. Gotcha!'
It came as a surprise to many fans of the show, as the British star of the show, Benedict Cumberbatch, recently admitted that any further episodes could be 'quite hard,' given the deathly conclusion of series two.

Last night, viewers were left with more than a glimmer of hope as ‘a mysterious figure’ was seen to be watching over Dr John Watson while he mourned at Sherlock’s graveside.
The latest three-part series has been praised by critics and fans alike.
