We have exciting news, Sex and the City fans! After plenty of speculation, it has been confirmed that Carrie Bradshaw is set to return to the small screen.

America's CW network has officially ordered a pilot show based on Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City prequel novel, The Carrie Diaries.

The Carrie Diaries series turns back the clock to the very beginning when a teenage Carrie first sets her eyes on the dazzling lights of the Big Apple.

Rumours have been swirling that Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have signed to the series, and they're keen to bring in Blake Lively for the coveted role of Carrie.

Blake, 24, who plays Serena van der Woodsen in hit series Gossip Girl, is up against some tough competition.

Miley Cyrus is also keen for the starring role, revealing to Access: ‘I would love it. I’m not attached, so I don’t want to say that, but that would be very cool.’

Emma Roberts, 20, and Hugo star Chloe Moretz, 14, could well play the pivotal role of young Carrie Bradshaw too.
