Serena Williams writes touching note to her baby after responding to Ilie Nastaste's racist remark
Go Serena!
Go Serena!
After last week's news that Serena Williams is pregnant with her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, you'd think the world would celebrate Serena Williams' baby.
But, sadly Romanian tennis legend Ilie Nastaste (who is also referred to as the 'Bucharest Buffoon') made a comment that shrouded the joyous news in ignorance and racism. The 1970s tennis star said: 'Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?' when referring to Serena and her partner's unborn baby.
The International Tennis Federation did not tolerate the comment announcing: 'The ITF does not tolerate discriminatory and offensive language and behaviour of any kind. We are aware of alleged comments made by Romanian captain Ilie Nastase and have begun an immediate investigation so that we have the full facts of the situation before taking further and appropriate action.'
And, last night, Serena responded on Instagram.
The same day, she also wrote a touching letter to her baby:
The tennis star will not play again this year but plans to return to her tennis career in 2018. Sounds like an ace plan to us...
