Serena Williams gave a huge nod to Meghan Markle in her Oscars speech

Last night saw the Oscars 2019 in full swing, with Rami Malek and Olivia Colman all winning big when it came to the awards.
One of the highlights of the evening, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga took to the stage to perform their hit Shallow from A Star is Born, with everyone talking about their incredible on-stage chemistry.
During the ceremony Serena Williams presented a clip of the Best Picture nominee to guests, giving a speech about the film and its lead characters, played by Bradley and Gaga.
'When we are young, we all have dreams of what we can accomplish in life,' the tennis champ began. 'Having the dream is easy; making it come true is hard. Whether that dream is becoming an actor, a tennis player or a singer, like Ali in A Star is Born.
'In tonight's nominee for Best Picture, we see through Ali's eyes the highs and the low on the journey to stardom. There's the rush of fame, the pressure of success – and the heartache that comes with sacrificing a career... a career for love.'
However, many have speculated that the speech is actually about Serena's friend Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex of course gave up her acting career to marry Prince Harry and become a full-time member of the British royal family – all in the name of love.

The pair have been friends for many years, with Serena and her daughter both attending Meghan's New York baby shower last week. The duchess is due to give birth to her first child in around two months' time.
Was this speech a reference to Duchess Meghan, or are the similarities all just a coincidence?
We may never know for sure...
