Unlikely A-list pair Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn have called time on their whirlwind four-month relationship, according to reports.
Rumours of a romance first surfaced back in January, when the pair reportedly hooked up while staying at LA’s notorious Chateau Marmont hotel.
Scarlett was said to have been ‘besotted’ with the Milk actor – more than 20 years her senior – and despite denying reports of a relationship, the rumours just refused to go away.
In March the couple were spied on two romantic dates in two days – including a super-secret day trip to Mexico, and they were even said to have attended Reese Witherspoon’s low-key wedding, and the glittering White House Correspondents' Dinner together.
In fact insiders claimed Scarlett had 'essentially moved in' to Sean's sprawling LA mansion in recent weeks.

But it seems the relationship wasn’t to be.
Talk the pair had gone their separate ways first began earlier this month, when Penn walked the red carpet alone at the premiere of new movie The Tree of Life at the glittering Cannes Film Festival.
And today American magazine People claims the couple have ended their whirlwind relationship, although it’s not known what caused the split.
Reps for the pair have yet to comment.
