We love, *love*, seeing Ryan Gosling in any film, but are we as excited to see his first turn behind the cameras? His directorial debut, Lost River, is to hit cinemas and Sky's On Demand service (never a good sign for a new release) on 10th April.
The first trailer for Lost River has just been released, so you can decide for yourself if you are as excited by this as you were by Crazy Stupid Love/The Notebook/Drive. Featuring Eva Mendes, Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Ben Mendelsohn, and Matt Smith, the film is described as 'fantasy, noir and suspense woven into a modern day fairytale'. That's putting it lightly, as the trailer shows scenes of an underwater city, a blow-up doll, a bike on fire and Eva Mendes dancing in a bizarre show.
Confused? So are we. The film is set against a 'surreal dreamscape' of a vanishing city called Lost River, where struggling single mum, Billy (Christina Hendricks) is swept into a dark fantasy underworld, while her son, Bones, is forced to take care of his younger brother in her absence. Bones finds a secret road to an underwater city, which is where we imagine things get crazy.
The film was met with both boos and cheers at Cannes Film Festival, leading to more confusion as to whether it's worth going to see at the cinema or not. Watch the trailer below and decide for yourself...
