Ryan Giggs to be dropped by sponsors?
Marketing experts believe the footballer is likely to feel the 'Tiger Woods' effect.
Marketing experts believe the footballer is likely to feel the 'Tiger Woods' effect.
Following fresh allegations of adultery, marketing experts believe that Ryan Giggs is facing mass-abandonment from his lucrative sponsorship deals, which have helped to make him the 20th richest sportsman in Britain - with a reported £34million fortune.
Following the scandalous revelations about his philandering private life, the footballer’s family man image has been considerably tarnished - much like that of Tiger Woods before him.
But unlike the golfing star, Ryan’s football days are somewhat numbered, considering he is nearing retirement age for footballers at 37 years old. This means he is unlikely to be able to rebuild his image in time to secure any future deals before his career ends.
Currently, Reebok is his biggest pay packet, earning him £20million. As of yet, they haven’t dropped the Manchester United star.
Other firms connected to the father-of-two include Swiss watch firms Patek Philippe and Cyma, car manufacturer Citroen and phone company Saudi Telecom.

Ryan’s popularity with brands was down to his golden boy image as he was seen as the ultimate family man and heartthrob, who was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2009 and has worked as an ambassador for Unicef.
Much like Tiger Woods, who was also seen as Mr Perfect, Ryan has built an entire career on this image, so stands to lose everything following the allegations. Unlike his teammate Wayne Rooney, who has had his own fair share of sex scandals, Ryan is unlikely to be kept by sponsors.
As Nigel Currie, from the consultancy Brand Rapport explained to the Daily Mail: ‘Rooney already had something of a bad boy image, so while that will have affected family brands it won’t necessarily worry more lad-orientated brands.
‘But for Giggs, at this stage of his career, these are pretty damaging accusations to recover from.'
Ryan and his family are currently believed to be staying in a private Spanish villa, while his brother Rhodri was seen leaving his house with a suitcase yesterday alongside best friend Will Mellor. Rhordi's wife Natasha is already abroad with her children.
