When questioned further about what happened when they got back to the apartment, he said, 'You'll have to ask the husband what has happened, it has been very traumatic. I don't want to say anything more. I'm still nervous and really upset. I can't say anything more, I will have to talk to Andy first.'
According to Stephen's bandmates, Andy Cowels is inconsolable and has been reported as saying that he will never forgive himself. 'I feel that my life is over. We have had wilder nights out in Dublin and this was nothing out of the ordinary. I just don't understand it. What hurts most is that he was only yards away from me in the room next door and I didn't even know he was slipping away. If only I had gone back to check him.'
