Atonement director Joe Wright proposes to actress Rosamund Pike
Rosamund pike and director Joe Wright have lots to celebrate this week, after becoming engaged at the Venice Film Festival. The couple were in Italy for the opening night premiere of Wright's film, Atonement, starring Keira Knightley and Jame McAvoy, which is already tipped for award season glory.
The Observer has reported that Joe proposed two days prior to the premiere, and that Rosamund said yes. He told the paper that he had turned down an invitation for dinner at George Clooney's on the night he was due to propose: 'He was a bit surprised - I couldn't tell him why, but I was just about to propose and was getting a bit nervous.'
The couple met when they worked together on Pride & Prejudice, in which she starred and he directed.
