Robert Pattinson has been getting all philosophical about his very public break-up with Kristen Stewart in July 2012.

“Shit happens, you know?” The 28 year-old told Esquire magazine of Kristen’s famous fling with director Rupert Sanders. “It’s just young people… it’s normal. And honestly, who gives a shit?”

It seems the protective star was more concerned about people bashing his former girlfriend, than having his own heart broken. “The hardest part was talking about it afterwards. Because when you talk about other people, it affects them in ways you can’t predict,” he said of the way Kristen dealt with the scandal.

After his Twilight co-star's "momentary indiscretion" was revealed, Robert moved out of the home he shared with her – a time that he does acknowledge was very personally difficult because of the paparazzi attention. “There was a time, three years ago, when I didn’t know where to live where I wouldn’t be trapped in my own home, you know?” he said. “But I worked it out. It’s not that big of a deal in the end.”
