Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spied holding hands on their dinner date at a Mexican restaurant

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may have seen in the New Year on the Isle of Wight, but the couple headed back to London for a cosy dinner date over the weekend.

According to onlookers, the pair enjoyed a cosy evening at Mexican restaurant Mestizo with a group of friends, staying close and holding hands during the evening.

Hollywoodlife reports Rob and Kristen arrived at the trendy London hangout with a group of pals, and tucked into the restaurant's £100-a-head New Year menu.

'They held hands as they left and Rob was seen smoking an e-cig at one point,' the source added.

This comes just days after it was rumoured Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could even be shopping for a more permanent home in London.

After Kristen's affair with Rupert Sanders left the couple at near breaking point, reports suggest the Twilight pair have been house hunting in the British capital, as they search for a new start in 2013.

'Ever since Kristen’s affair last year, Rob has realised just how much his friends and family in the UK mean to him. After spending more time here in recent months, Rob’s decided he wants to split his time more between London and Los Angeles,' an insider reveals.

'He wants to put down roots in London and he’s doing it with Kristen. He’s told her that if she wants to make things work, she’s going to have to accept that he wants to spend much more time in London.'

And it seems they found their dream home almost straight away - in the upmarket area of Richmond.

'It’s on the market for millions. Unlike the others they saw, this is suited to their tastes and needs very little work,' the source continued of Rob and Kristen's favourite pad.

'With their hectic filming schedules they want somewhere they can live in straight away and it has a beautiful garden too. They both fell in love with the property as soon as they saw it.

'Rob knows the area as he attended Tower House, a prep school near Richmond Park. So his dad Richard put him in touch with an estate agent who lined up appointments. Kristen’s really excited about the prospect of spending more time in the UK and has been saying how she’d love to star in a West End show.'

Hopefully we could be seeing much more of Rob and Kristen soon!
