The private pair were spotted seeing in the New Year at The Spyglass Inn, in the tiny town of Ventnor

Last year Twilight twosome Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart shocked fans around the world by shunning the Los Angeles limelight, and choosing to spend New Year’s Eve in the small town of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight.

So it came as no surprise when the couple surfaced there again over the weekend, and were snapped with a group of friends, seeing in 2011 with a low-key night at another local on the Isle of Wight, The Spyglass Inn.

It’s thought the private pair visited the same pub last year, and decided to return for a repeat of the New Year’s celebrations, which, this year, included live music.

'We were hoping they would come back to the pub again this year and when they walked through the door no-one could quite believe it,' one onlooker revealed to local reporters.

'They seemed like a really sweet, down to earth couple with no airs or graces.'

'There was a live band playing and they were bopping along to the music and enjoying themselves.

'Robert looked as if he was drinking some sort of short and then they went out on to the seafront for a while.'

After seeing in the New Year, the pair returned to the pub for lunch the next day, with a group of friends – including R-Patz’ actor pal Tom Sturridge – in tow.

When Rob and Kristen have enjoyed some well-deserved down time, it's thought they'll return to Canada, to continue filming penultimate Twilight flick, Breaking Dawn.
