Rumour has it the songstress could replace Whitney Houston in a new version of the classic
Nearly twenty years after Whitney Huston’s classic flick was released, rumour has it studio bosses are planning a remake of 1992 film The Bodyguard, with songstress Rihanna tipped to land the lead.
PICS! RIHANNA’S STAR-STUDDED BIRTHDAY BASH
It’s thought producers at Warner Brothers have already commissioned a screenplay of the new movie - which could see the leading lady stalked by a fan tracking her on Twitter, Facebook and celebrity websites - and are considering who they would like to star.
Barbadian singer Rihanna, who celebrated her 23rd birthday earlier this week, is said to be frontrunner for the new role, with bosses also reported to be considering singing sensation Beyonce, teen star Miley Cyrus, and country singer Taylor Swift.
Warbling Whitney’s bodyguard, played in the first flick by (a very young looking!) Kevin Costner is set to get a makeover, and it’s thought the story could involve a US soldier, who lands a bodyguard job after retiring from service.
‘The goal is to take a young female singer with global appeal and give her the platform that The Bodyguard did Houston’, movie website Deadline revealed of the flick.
