Rihanna shares much of her private life with her fans, but she has never truly opened up about Chris Brown and the injuries he inflicted on her when he assaulted her three years ago. Until now.
For what promises to be a candid interview, Oprah Winfrey visited Rihanna in Barbados for a special one-off show.
In adverts for the special, clips of Rihanna in tears, sharing her deepest feelings and also having a laugh have been teased.
In one particular ad, the 24-year-old singer is shown opening up about ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and the violent circumstances in which they split in February 2009.
She revealed that she was worried about him, even after his attack on her. She told Oprah: 'I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in.
'Because as angry as I was - as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who's going to help him? Nobody's going to say he needs help, everybody's going to say he's a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him.'

She continued: 'It was embarrassing it was humiliating. I lost my best friend... everything I knew switched - switched in a night. And I couldn't control that. It's not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching.'
RIHANNA & CHRIS BROWN'S SECRET TWITTER EXCHANGE REVEALED
In the teaser clips, Oprah is then seen asking probing questions, including: 'Do you think Chris Brown is a true love for you?' and 'Where does your relationship stand today?'
