Rihanna mortified by her mother at Time magazine's star-studded gala

Rihanna lead the way for some of the world's most influential people at a star-studded party in New York, but was left embarrassed when her mother made a joke about Ashton Kutcher.

The 24-year-old singer wore a dramatic Vivienne Westwood dress to the Time 100 Gala, which honours the most influential people in the world, held at the Lincoln Centre in New York.

But her gorgeous pink gown didn't save her blushes, when her mother, Monica Braithwaite, joked publicly about Rihanna's rumoured fling with Kutcher.

The star wrote on Twitter: 'Well....2nt consisted of us singing Bob Marley, drinkin Vintage Scotch, and my mom thinkin a joke abt Kutcher was appropriate! #Thxtime100' (sic).

It was reported that Rihanna and 34-year-old Kutcher were seeing each other after RiRi was spotted making a series of late night visits to the actor's Hollywood home earlier this month.

Other A-list guests at the gala, where Rihanna also performed, included Claire Danes, Tyra Banks, Tilda Swinton and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman.
