Rihanna was spotted out and about with a brand new tattoo last week, a chic italic inscription on her neck. But no sooner had the star debuted the new design, than critics slammed the inking for being incorrect French. Now the star has hit back, insisting her tattoo isn’t a typo.

The inscription – the Umbrella star’s 15th tattoo - reads 'rebelle fleur'.
But as Rihanna stepped out to show off the design for the first time, a debate erupted among critics and fans over whether the grammar was correct.
French experts were quick to point out the words should have been the other way around, reading 'fleur rebelle,' insisting the star must be walking around with a typo.
But clearly a little sensitive to the remarks, Rhi sent a snappy text to her tattoo artist, defending her new inscription.

‘Rebelle fleur translates to rebel flower, NOT rebelious flower, its 2 nouns so in that case fleur does not HAVE to be first! Fyi, cuz they will ask,’ it read.
