Rihanna saw in her 25th year with a romantic beach break in Hawaii with her on-off boyfriend Chris Brown

Rihanna skipped London's glittering Brit Awards last night for a celebration of her own - her 25th birthday. The songstress marked the occasion with a romantic break to Hawaii, with on-off boyfriend, Chris Brown.

After a successful London Fashion Week who, birthday girl Rihanna clearly decided it was time for some R&R, jetting to the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

And who should join her, but her boyfriend, Chris Brown.

The pair celebrated Rhi's special day with a stroll across the beach, holding hands and cosying up in front of the surf.

Taking to Twitter, Rihanna wrote: “#epic day already, I woke up to sunshine in paradise and #STAY done jumped 54 spots to #3 on the BillboardHot100!!'.

Just hours later, the singer posted a picture of herself sitting on Chris Brown's lap in a camper van.

'Pour it up pour it up! #birthdaybehavior,' Rhi wrote beside the picture on Instagram.

Earlier this month, Rihanna confirmed her reunion with rapper Chris Brown, in an honest interview with Rolling Stone.

Speaking in the magazine's March issue, Rihanna spoke candidly of the incident that led to her much publicised split with Chris Brown and how fans and the media reacted afterwards.

The singer explained that she wanted to punish her former beau for his actions, but felt the storm over the events went to far.

'I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. To feel the consequences of that. So when that (stuff) came back it hit me like a ton of bricks,' she said.

Like, God, you’ve got to be kidding right now. But I got real with myself, and I just couldn’t bury the way I felt.

'But I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that.'
