Katy Perry celebrated her upcoming nuptials yesterday, by throwing an intimate Alice in Wonderland-themed bridal shower for 11 of her closest friends.

The California Gurls singer invited pals to join her at the bridal bash – held at a family friend’s LA home – ahead of her wedding, which is expected to take place in India in October.

'The party had an 'Alice in Wonderland' theme and only 11 of her closest friends were invited,' one insider revealed.

It’s thought the no-expense-spared, themed party took place in the garden, with her DJ pals Mia Moretti, Markus Molinari and her stylists Logan Horne, Rick Henry and Aaron Light all in attendance.

Another important attendee was Katy’s grandmother, who took along a sneaky snap of Miss Perry playing dress up as a youngster, posing in a hot pink glittering outfit, complete with matching hat.

And Katy found the picture so hilarious, she even took to Twitter to share it with her fans, writing ‘grandma brought this one outta the closet today!’ alongside the photo.

Katy also posted pics of a special Katy Perry cake, decorated with marshmallows and other sweet treats, which may have been what guests feasted on at the bridal party.

It’s thought preparations are in full swing for Katy and Russell’s big day, and the pair are said to have already sent out save the date' invites, asking guests to keep a whole week free for the nuptials.

Katy has also embarked on a strict, wedding-day diet, and has stepped up her exercise regime, including skipping, weight lifting, cardio and yoga in her campaign to get fit.
