Pippa recalls Halloween with sister Kate Middleton

Pippa Middleton has shared memories of decorating the house with the Duchess of Cambridge when they were children

Pippa Middleton has shared memories about celebrating Halloween with her sister Kate Middleton in an interview to celebrate the launch of her new book, Celebrate.

Giving a rare glimpse into the Middleton childhood, Pippa recalled preparing for the spooky season with the Duchess of Cambridge, when they both lived at their parents' Bucklebury home.

'As a child, I felt that Halloween was a time when creatures of the night suddenly came to life,' she writes in an extract from the new book, in Parade magazine yesterday.

'[W]e would turn off all the lights in the house and let flickering candlelight conjure up scary shadows and imaginary figures lurking in dark corners.'

Pippa reveals she still celebrates Halloween with friends, and shares her tips and tricks.

'I frequently celebrate Halloween over a supper with friends. It's a wonderful excuse to let your imagination run riot with gory-looking food and special effects,' she explains.

'Among the many tricks and treats she offers up? "Stir witchy cauldrons of pumpkin soup; hang homemade spiders inside window nooks; string cobwebs on tables; and haunt gardens, attics, and stairways with ghosts made from sheets.'

Pippa covers different everything from Easter and Christmas to creating a Highland feast in the book - for which she was reportedly paid £400,000 - spilling the beans on how she and Kate Middleton used to make their parents breakfast.

'I have funny memories of creeping up the stairs with my brother and sister, carrying a breakfast tray for our parents as a surprise treat: desperately trying not to spill the tea and orange juice or knock over the vase of flowers, stifling our giggles so that they couldn't hear us coming,' she says.

Yesterday, Pippa attended a string of launches to celebrate the book going on sale, trotting out not one, not two, but four dresses in the process.

Yesterday it was revealed Pippa's sister Kate Middleton has been voted the most naturally beautiful celebrity, in a survey by skincare brand St Ives.

Kate beat Holly Willoughby and Keira Knightley to the top spot, with Pippa coming in at number 10.
