Pippa laughed as friend brandished gun around while driving through Paris over the weekend

Pippa Middleton has found herself in the centre of a gun probe after a friend brandished a pistol while driving her around Paris, it's being reported. The 27-year-old sister of the future Queen of England was snapped sitting next to a male friend as he jokingly waved a pistol in the air and pointed it at a photographer.

Miss Middleton was being driven to the Gare du Nord station to board the Eurostar on Saturday, in an open top Audi, with three male friends, when the driver began waving the gun, much to the amusement of his passengers.

While it's probably safe to say the pistol was a fake, fuming French police are still poised to launch a probe into the incident - which comes weeks after three children were among seven shot dead in Toulouse.

According to The Sun, Pippa may even face arrest amid the gun clamp-down. The Sun was told: 'If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted.

'Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation.'

The source confirmed that if the gun was real, the penalty 'for all parties involved' is up to seven years in jail, while, even if it is fake, the maximum jail term is two years.

The source added: 'Certainly if you were in a car and knew somebody was using a gun to warn people off you’d be liable to arrest.'

Kate Middleton's sister had been in the French capitol for the weekend, attending the lavish fancy dress party of fashion entrepreneur Arthur de Soultrait the night before.

The French photographer who the gun was pointed at was 'considering his options' after making a formal complaint.
