We could hardly believe our eyes when we caught sight of actress Rooney Mara earlier this week. The fresh-faced actress has undergone a dramatic makeover for her role in Stieg Larsson hot flick The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and now she’s posed for a series of pictures to debut her new look.
MEET THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
Since beating off stiff competition from Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan for the role, Rooney has been spotted sporting new jet-black hair, striking facial piercings and seriously ripped jeans.
And now the star has posed for a series of shots for W magazine, debuting the full force of her dramatic new look.
Posing as alter ego, Lisbeth Salandar, Rooney shows off her harsh cropped hair, fierce facial studs and black tattoo, posing with blood covered hands in some of the striking shots.
Speaking of undergoing her movie makeover, the Social Network star revealed she completed the transformation in just one day, having her hair cut and dyed and a full set of piecings.

'I didn’t even have pierced ears,' she said. 'They put four holes in each ear, and, weirdly, that hurt the most,' she said.
'It was all very organised. With [director] David [Fincher] everything is measured and carefully considered. He wants what he sees in his head.'
Rooney stars with Daniel Craig in the Hollywood remake of the first film, due out in December this year.
