Party girl loses £1.3m worth of jewellery in hooded burglary
Paris Hilton has received just about the worst Christmas present imaginable: a hooded burglary at her LA mansion, which resulted in the loss of £1.3million worth of jewellery.
Although the 27-year-old was not in at the time, that's likely to be small comfort given the staggering value of what went missing.
A security guard at the gated community in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, where Paris lives, raised the alarm in the early hours of Friday morning after the burglary was discovered.
It is thought the thief, who was apparently wearing gloves and a hooded jumper, ransacked Paris' bedroom before making off with the gems.
The exact value of the loot has not been released, although it is thought to be in the region of $2million (approx. £1.3million).
Paris had been out on the town the night before helping celebrate Christina Aguilera's birthday.
