Palace claims that Harry and Meghan had 'nothing to do' with rules for neighbours
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines when they moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor earlier this year. Some people were concerned that their decision not to live alongside the Cambridges at Kensington Palace, coupled with the fact that Harry split from their shared royal household, was indicative of a feud.
Their home also underwent various renovations which reportedly included installing a yoga studio and organic garden, however many were unhappy about the fact that the huge overhaul cost the taxpayer an eye-watering £2.4 million.
But it hasn't stopped there, as this weekend The Sun reported that Harry and Meghan's neighbours were given a set of 'rules' to follow when it comes to communicating with the Sussexes.
Apparently, locals are not to approach or instigate conversation with the couple, should not pet or stroke their dogs, shouldn't offer to walk their dogs or ask to see baby Archie (or offer to babysit), they should avoid posting anything through the letterbox of Frogmore Cottage, but they are permitted to say 'good morning' to the Duke and Duchess - if they say it first.
A spokesman for Buckingham Palace appeared to confirm that locals had engaged in discussions about what's expected of them when it comes to their royal neighbours, however they denied that Harry and Meghan had anything to do with it. They claim that the requests came from an 'overly protective palace official' and not from the new parents.
They said: 'The Duke and Duchess had no knowledge of this briefing and no involvement in the concept or the content. This was a well-intentioned briefing to help a small local community know how to welcome two new residents and help them with any potential encounter.
'There was no handout or letter. The talk was undertaken by a local manager and was widely viewed as being well received.'
