Colin Firth became an instant sex symbol when he emerged, seductively soaked through, from a river in the TV adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
From today, one lucky lady will be able to enjoy a date with star at the screening of his new movie Mamma Mia, thanks to a fundraising auction initiative by eBay and Oxfam.
The two companies have teamed up to raise money for Oxfam's worldwide poverty relief efforts. The campaign consists of four consecutive charity auctions featuring unique 'experiences' with Oxfam Ambassadors including Scarlett Johansson, Colin Firth and Kristin Davis. Each item listing will run for 10 days and will be featured at www.ebay.com/oxfam.
First up? The dream date with Colin. The two VIP tickets to the world premiere of Mamma Mia (which also stars Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan), will see you schmoozing with stars at the afterparty, and will include a chauffeur service so you can make a celeb-style arrival yourself.
Other upcoming celebrity auctions include tickets to the New York premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie with Kristin Davis, including chauffer-driven car, make over and a pair of Jimmy Choos, and a pair of tickets to be Scarlett Johansson's guest at the June premiere of 'He's Just Not That into You' starring Johansson, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck, again including a makeover and chauffeur-driven car.
What's more, a host of other Hollywood stars have flexed their charity muscles, includung Helen Mirren and Felicity Huffman, and donated items for auction, with all proceeds benefiting Oxfam America.
